When I failed to follow rules I had to strip naked in front of the family. I had to stand naked and had to hear the lecture of my father about being a good girl and the importance of strict discipline to achieve that goal. I stood naked for some time to reflect about these words and to prepare myself to be punished. Then I lied down on the bench and was restraint. Dad told me how many strokes I had to receive and I answered "Yes sir, thank you sir!" Then he took a cane for my bare butt or the birch to whip me from back to my thighs. After my punishment I stayed restraint to let the pain sink in. Then I was untied to stand nude at attention for all to see for at least half an hour. The combination of pain and humiliation was very important.
